This is about RVing in Gettysburg, where we have been a few times.
We first went in our short owned Class C:
We stayed where the horses are housed at the National Stables (http://artilleryridge.com/index.htm ) that are used for the horse tours through the battlefields. This is a super campground, but we went in the fall off-season so it was not so crowded.
We have been back with Amelia and friends who have never been to the battlefields before this past fall. It is my opinion that you do not visit the battlefields, but you experience them. There is an absolute spiritual sense as to what went on, a feeling of awe that is deeply meaningful, terrible, sad and proud. It is our American history, for better or for worse. The sacrifices made in this little town is staggering, yet reveals the true American spirit of resilience, strength and compassion in the face of war that torn our own country and its citizens apart.
Our Union was preserved, and so has much of Gettysburg to remind us of our American heritage. It is a must experience to honor those who sacrificed so much.
God Bless America.
